The Insolvency Law Academy (ILA) is pleased to announce that its 4th Annual Conference will be held from 24 to 26 January 2026 at the Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad, India.

Founded by Sumant Batra (International Fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy and past President of INSOL International), the ILA is a leading think tank committed to advancing insolvency law and policy. Since its inception, the ILA Conference has become a key international forum for scholarly and professional engagement in the field.

First launched four years ago, the ILA Conference has developed a distinctive reputation for its interdisciplinary format, bringing together academics, judges, practitioners, and regulators in mixed-panel discussions on topical and emerging issues. This format encourages open, rigorous dialogue across professional boundaries and contributes to meaningful policy and legal reform conversations.

We are now accepting submissions for the 2026 Conference. The deadline for submission is 30 September 2025.

Submissions are welcome on a broad range of insolvency-related topics, but we particularly encourage contributions on the following themes:

  • Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) issues in insolvency and restructuring
  • Climate change and the future of insolvency systems
  • Individual insolvency, fresh start mechanisms, and access to justice
  • Informal workouts, pre-packaged insolvency procedures, and early intervention tools
  • Cross-border insolvency and harmonisation of legal frameworks
  • Digitalisation, AI, and the future of insolvency processes
  • Sustainable finance, inclusive access to credit, and equitable financial restructuring

To ensure a tailored approach, submissions should be directed as follows:

  • Early Career Researchers (ESG Track): Please submit your abstract to
esgchair@insolvencylawacademy.com (call for papers can be accessed here)
  • Established Scholars (ISF Track): Please submit your abstract to isfchair@insolvencylawacademy.com (call for papers can be accessed here)

All selected speakers will be notified by mid-October 2025 and will be expected to submit a full paper for publication consideration in the Journal of International and Comparative Law by Spring 2026.

Held in the unique setting of Ramoji Film City, the conference offers an exceptional platform for dialogue, reflection, and networking. Whether you are an academic, policymaker, judge, or practitioner, the ILA Conference provides a rare opportunity to engage with thought leaders in a setting that fosters both intellectual exchange and cross-sector collaboration.
